An Angel
There was a 3-day prayer vigil, held on the mall in Washington DC. It involved many prayers for peace, prayers for healing for the earth, and prayers of thanksgiving for the opening of the National Museum of Native American Culture. Many of the celebrants were native Americans, a large proportion of whom had traveled for days to attend. Also present were many Buddhists, an Imam and his disciples, and followers of other paths.
The native Americans led a prayer dance. They offered sincere prayers from the heart, thanking the creator for the beginnings of a recovery of their people, seeking divine impetus in healing of the earth and of the nation. The prayers were deeply moving in their sincerity. The dance and prayer was long, perhaps thirty minutes.
At once there was much shouting and hooting. The peoples of the first nations had seen a They have many forms, visible and invisible.spirit being, the messenger of the creator. The messenger
took a form carrying great meaning. From being an earnest prayer, the ceremony was transformed into a dialogue, an acknowledgement of the inter-relatedness of creator and created. Many tears were offered to the earth. The prayer was transformed from a prayer seeking blessing to one wholly devoted to thanksgiving that the creator had favored creation by showing an incarnation, affirming the hearing of the prayer, assuring fulfillment. Many people saw and were moved. Some of them understood that they had seen a powerful spirit. Others thought it was an interesting coincidence.
The messenger was no empty vessel. Communications and communion were there for those who understood. One message showed that the prayers offered created responsibilities in the pray-ors. It was a message that the prayers could be realized and that the creator is present with those who took up the responsibility comprehended by the prayer.
